The dishwasher was delivered on Thursday 9 April. The delivery driver claimed that installation with the wooden front panel (integrable) was not included in the service and that his job was only to deliver and plug in the machine. However, he indicated that he would install it (without the wooden panel) if I paid him some cash.
In the end, he installed the machine and connected it properly, but did not fit the wooden front panel. Without the panel, the door hinge springs are too strong, so when the door is opened it does not stay down for loading unless the bottom rack is pulled out and weighted with dishes.
I paid him €50 in cash. In hindsight, I suspect he may have taken advantage of the situation, but at least the machine was installed and functioning, which avoided having to arrange installation separately after delivery.
My expectation when ordering an integrable dishwasher from El Corte Inglés with installation was that the full installation would include fitting the kitchen panel, removing it from the old machine and attaching it to the new one. That was the experience when buying an integrable washing machine for 2-1A from Miró, where the delivery team handled everything, including transferring the wooden panel and removing the old appliance.
Either this service is not included when buying integrable appliances online from El Corte Inglés, in which case it may be better to purchase in person and confirm installation terms, or consider buying from another retailer.
I have contacted Ismael, the carpenter who installed our kitchen, to ask if he can fit the wooden panel onto the new dishwasher. He has said he will send someone to do it.
Mark says:
Caren spent about an hour attempting to fit the wooden front panel onto the dishwasher. He found that the appliance had not been properly secured to the cabinet housing, which needs to be done before the panel can be installed correctly.
He will return to complete the job when he comes back to replace the oven in 2-1A, and will bring the correct screws to finish the installation.
